Krystopher (Krys) was the first child born to Jerry and Debbie Simmons on September 3rd, 1985. Krys had one younger brother Kyle and younger sister Samantha. Krys’ young life began in Jamaica, Queens where he attended public schools and then later St. Gerards Catholic school. In 1997, he and his family relocated to Wheatley Heights, Suffolk county where he attended West Hollow Middle School, Half Hollow East High School, Nassau Community and lastly Empire State College which he was attending to complete his apprentice for the Local  number three.

Krys grew up into a dynamic, well loved young man who wore many hats. Not only was he a loving son and grandson, but also a big brother, caring neighbor, loyal and trusting friend. As a big brother, cousin and friend, he was truly a role model , confidant and always willing to give much needed advice. He had a vibrant, electrifying personality and as a result, people loved being around Krys and enjoying his captivating personality. This was evident by the overwhelming number of friends and acquaintances who were always in his presence. Krys loved people! It didn’t matter what age, race, religion or gender you were, Krys loved you for who you were. Krys had an infectious sense of humor and a special way of connecting with people. He had a very unique and special way of just knowing what to do or say to make anyone in his company feel comfortable and loved.

Krys best kept secret was that he was an extremely introspective person, who was well versed in a myriad of subject matters. Krys was an exemplary mathematics student, a talented creative artist and a savvy tech wiz. Krys also had a passion for music and could appreciate multiple genres. Krys loved to dance and was always the crowd pleaser. He loved to make people enjoy being in that moment along with him. Krys was also an avid sports enthusiast and was a Giants and Yankee fanatic. No one loved his team more than Krys! He would go to Boston and yell on top of his lungs “Lets go Yankees” and not afraid of the Red sox fans. He was a true fan!  Moreover, he was a collector. He maintained for many years a vast baseball card and video game collections. He also collected various baseball hats and had a loving competition with his cousin-sister Drica. The last collection he had was t-shirts by “Two in the shirts”.  A few weeks before he went home, he personally met the owner of the company because he had purchased the most shirts for the year.

Krys worked at Gateway as an electrician’s apprentice where he had just completed 4 years. He was on his final year looking forward to becoming a Journeyman. Krys was a member of Local Three, international Brotherhood of Electricians. Krys made many friends at the Local 3 and was considered one of their brothers. He loved and respected his job, his supervisors and his co-workers.  This year , Krys was nominated and slated to receive The Outstanding Apprentice Award.

Krys’ favorite phase was “it is what it is!” What we will remember from him is to laugh when someone makes a joke, dance when you hear music, and love today because tomorrow is not promised to us.
